Brexit Procedures Update
The UK Government published a Document on Monday 13th July 2020 titled The Border with the European Union, Importing and Exporting Goods.
We are in the process of understanding the complete contents of this document of over 200 pages, and how it will affect our customers.
In the meantime if you wish to read this document, it can be found by copying and pasting the following link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-border-operating-model into your browser.
There are two further step-by-step guides which you may be interested to read; importing and exporting, https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-import-to-great-britain-from-january-2021 and https://www.gov.uk/prepare-to-export-from-great-britain-from-january-2021.
As the document itself states ‘’The UK’s (ongoing) negotiations with the EU will have no impact on the need to take these actions”.
It is therefore very clear and unambiguous that full Customs processes will take place on both Exports and Imports as from the 1st January 2021.
The following are the absolute minimum requirements for UK Importers and will need to be put in place as a matter of urgency.
The following bullet points are the minimum requirements for UK Exporters and also need to be progressed with urgency.
We will, as always, endeavour to keep you fully informed, but please note that with 167 days to go, now is the time to take action in order to ensure a smooth transition to the new arrangements at the end of this year. Fastnet Forwarding Ltd and its Group Companies and agents can assist with Customs agents where required.
We will provide further updates next week, and plan to start contacting our clients accordingly, therefore please can you advise who your Brexit contact is to the writer firstname.lastname@example.org.
