MARINE INSURANCE

We should like to draw your attention to our company trading conditions (a copy of which can be had upon request). In particular our limitation of liability.

With this in mind we recommend that when exporting or importing either by sea, road or air, marine insurance is effected for all consignments being carried whilst at your risk.

We feel it is commercially imprudent to rely merely on the carrying companies limited insurance cover, which is governed and therefore limited by the relevant conditions of carriage. If a loss or damage does occur in transit, you could find your consignments are not fully covered and in any event negligence still has to be proved.

In general, marine insurance cover pays out against a claim and then liability is determined at a later stage by the insurers involved. You can obtain an ‘open policy’ through your own broker.
